Alan Smith from Parkrand will be part of the team representing the country and South African Model Aircraft Association at the model glider F3K World Championships, in Slovakia, from 24 to 31 July.He explained team selection took place two years ago, but the championships were postponed due to Covid-19.
“It’s also good to meet up with our other family. We haven’t been able to compete in the championships since Covid-19 became a realityAlan said he always had a passion for flying model aircrafts and was born into an aircraft family. Furthermore, he said the world championships are self-funded and members of the community are welcome to make contributions to support the team.Stefan Coetzer from the SAMAA said the committee wishes the team all of the best and know they are going to do well and make them proud.
