It started over the weekend. More than 2,000 Hamas Militant rockets were fired into Israel, causing destruction and loss of life. It didn't stop with just the rockets. Israel sent retaliatory airstrikes to Gaza, confirming that the two nations are at war. The death toll is now over 1,000 people.Over 6,000 miles away from the attacks, local Rabbi Yosef Goldwasser says right now is an extremely hard time for Jewish people.
On Thursday, just days before the rockets flew through the Israeli air, an email containing a bomb threat was sent to several synagogues in Alabama, including some in Mobile. The threatening email lead MPD sending in its bomb squad. A bomb was never found. MPD is monitoring the situation. Rabbi Goldwasser says threats like those do not make him fearful.
