Local military hero Rovecchia Rivers received a free air conditioning unit from Hansen Super Techs as part of an annual veteran’s giveaway program.

Hansen office manager Kristen Rossan said Rivers is an Alabama Army National Guard veteran and a dedicated community volunteer. She said Rivers was selected from hundreds of applicants after their team of directors heard her touching story. “It’s truly something special when you can come back from war and still be that good in spirits to help your neighbors. And she’s just so helpful and wants to just volunteer in the community and we just knew this was the one,” said Rossan.
Ironically, while Rivers was stationed in Iraq, she helped maintain vital air conditioning and refrigeration systems.“It’s probably gonna lower my light bill cause I’m running AC units and fans right now,” Rivers said.But what happened today will last far longer for Rivers.
