Local ministry gets facility updates to better serve the Wiregrass

Skylar Celeste Boone The first four Gospels of the New Testament relate the story of Jesus and the five loaves and fishes that fed a multitude. At Dothan's Love In Action Ministries, that spirit endures as the organization remodels its building to accommodate more people in a dining hall where meals are provided for the homeless population and others in need, as the group has been doing for 24 years.

They will be able to have different ways now to cook in addition to their convection ovens, such as a six-top stove, a tilt skillet, and a large smoker grill. Love In Action shows compassion to those in need by giving out food, groceries, clothes, and much more. They do a lot of work with the homeless and, provide them with meals and showers and do laundry for them as well. They do that for hygiene purposes and because it helps them feel better about themselves, and they have helped a number of people get jobs.Listen now and subscribe: Apple Podcasts | Google Podcasts | Spotify | YouTube | RSS Feed | SoundStack | All Of Our Podcasts While they do a lot with the homeless, the majority of the people that the groups sees are people who just need help maintaining their lives. Love In Action has discovered that in Dothan, about 20% of the population lives below the poverty line. The ministry gives out a lot of non-perishable foods and has a food pantry that people come to, but volunteers also take food out to residents in the county. “The main thing we want them to know is that God has not forgotten about them, that he loves them, and we want to show them Jesus every way that we can,” said Ken Tuck, Love in Action president and co-founder. Many of the people who visit are believers who are hurting, Tuck said. Love In Action is able to bring encouragement to them and reminders that God hears your prayers. “For those who don't know Christ as their savior, Lord, we want to present Jesus to them and give them opportunities to give their lives to the Lord. Because we're all about Jesus. We just want to show people the love of Christ,” said Tuck. Health support is also provided through the Samaritan Clinic for the homeless and those in group homes like the Ark where volunteer doctors, nurses, and pharmacists come in once a week. To support their work you can visit loveinactionministries.com and get involved. Love In Action is a 5013 organization, and donations, monetary or other, are greatly appreciated.Skylar Celeste Boone Follow Skylar Celeste Boone Close Get email notifications on {{subject}} daily!
