Tonight, Lizzo is up for five awards: Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop, Video for Good, and Song of the Summer. She is also among tonight's performers; others includeLizzo previously talked about the meaning behind her nominated single, ""'About Damn Time' can lead into so many conversations," she said, per. "It's about damn time I feel better, it's about damn time we get out of this pandemic.
"I had to remember, when we come out of lockdown, people are going to be coming out of a depression. And the end of lockdown does not signify the end of their mental-health struggles. So I wanted to make music that people can use as a soundtrack to survive," she told the magazine. "All of these incredible songs are giving people the language to express themselves and to have a release after everything they've experienced.
