Jurgen Klopp has reached 300 Premier League games as Liverpool manager - and these are the ECHO's favourites
Happy 300th, Jurgen Klopp. The Liverpool boss reached a landmark Premier League match as a manager in winning fashion with an impressive triumph over Aston Villa on Sunday.
And while careful consideration was of course given to the 7-0 and 5-0 triumphs against United and the 4-1, 4-0 and 5-2 hammerings of Everton, it's a different battering of the Red Devils that wins this particular accolade for me. "The banner on the Kop before kick-off served as a simple, effective message to the rest of English football, those who can only look on with envy right now: Imagine being us," wrote the ECHO's match verdict on the night.
But for good reason did Jurgen Klopp believe Liverpool cannot have had many games like the one up on Tyneside barely a week ago. How that all pans out, only time will tell. But, in terms of this season, it will take some occasion to surpass this memorable triumph.Tom Cavilla: While Liverpool’s 7-0 thrashing of Manchester United last season was something special, it is bettered by the demolition job done the previous campaign at Old Trafford.
