Liverpool's Chinese New Year celebrations start with a projection show at the Bombed Out Church, featuring traditional Chinese folklore. Liverpool 's Chinese New Year festivities kick off tonight with a massive programme of events all over the city. The Bombed Out Church will host a projection show inspired by traditional Chinese folklore of 'The Boy & The Pearl' across the weekend. The story has been developed in collaboration with the church, local artists and Pagoda Arts and is accompanied by a magical soundscape created for this year’s spectacle.

The grounds of the church will also be brought to life with an audio-visual art installation developed with the church's community engagement team. A special commission will showcase a 7ft high driftwood dragon, alongside a field of crafted leaves created by local school children and community members, featuring illustrations and messages of hope for the new year. Focal Studios has also enlisted the help of Mersey Forest for the weeken
