Vance arrived at Asheville Regional Airport around 11 a.m. Friday. His motorcade is now traveling the Fairview area.United States Vice President elect J.D. Vance will be in Western North Carolina today to survey storm damage and meet with first responders 10 weeks after Helene devastated the region.
Vance's trip to WNC comes just a month after President-elect Donald Trump's trip to Swannanoa. Trump criticized FEMA's response to the disaster and promised to do more if he became president.News 13 will be with Vance during his visit and will be asking several questions, including how the future administration plans to help WNC in the recovery process.
