Donald Trump and President Biden are set to take the debate stage at 9 p.m. Thursday for the first time in 2024.
In advance of the first presidential debate, President Biden’s campaign has launched a new website focused on “Project 2025,” a massive policy proposal compiled by the conservative Heritage Foundation. Biden’s campaign warns that the plan would serve as a “blueprint” for Donald Trump to implement if he wins a second term.
The book-length proposal suggests dramatically expanding presidential power under a potential second Trump administration, reinstating Trump’s ban on transgender people in the military, restricting access to abortion medication, and erasing terms such as “abortion” and “gender equality” from federal rules and regulations. Though Trump’s campaign has said the group does not speak for it, Biden and Democrats have invoked Project 2025 as a warning about what a second Trump term would bring.
