A nor'easter is expected to bring 8 to 12 inches of snow to the Philadelphia region and 12 to 20 inches to parts of the Jersey Shore Sunday through Monday. Get live updates.A FIRST ALERT is in effect for our area Sunday night through Monday morning as a nor’easter is expected to bring up to a foot of snow to the Philadelphia region and up to 20 inches of snow in parts of the Jersey Shore.

A Blizzard Warning is in effect from 10 a.m. Sunday through 6 p.m. Monday for parts of the Jersey Shore as well as 1 p.m. Sunday though 6 p.m. Monday for parts of coastal Delaware,The City of Philadelphia has declared a snow emergency starting at 4 p.m. on Sunday, meaning cars parked in emergency will have to be moved by that time. The city has also announced that schools will go virtual on Monday, courts will be closed and trash pickup scheduled for Monday and Tuesday will be delayed. Scattered rain and snow showers will begin Sunday morning around 5 a.m. though most of that snow will melt. All of the precipitation will transition over to snow by 2 p.m. on Sunday and will begin to stick by that point. Minor to moderate flooding will occur in low-lying areas along the Jersey Shore and for most of coastal Delaware Sunday night. Winds will gust out of the northeast on Sunday for inland neighborhoods from 25-35 mph and 40-50 mph along the coast. These powerful winds will cause power outages along the shoreline. There will still be steady snow by daybreak Monday, and some of it could still be heavy. However, snow will gradually taper off after 11 a.m. Monday. In all, the storm is expected to bring 8 to 12 inches of snow to the Philadelphia region and surrounding suburbs, 12 to 20 inches to parts of the Jersey Shore, including the Atlantic City area, and 5 to 8 inches to the Lehigh Valley.
