Co-host of “the Weekend” Alicia Menendez, MSNBC political analyst Cornell Belcher, and Puck chief political columnist John Heilemann join Nicolle Wallace and get the first look at NBC’s exit poll from Steve Kornacki at the big board.

The first results are starting to roll in as polls begin to close across the country. NBC News projects former PresidentRepublican Jim Justice has won the U.S. Senate race in West Virginia, NBC News projects, filling the seat that will be vacated by retiring Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin.Donald Trump is projected to win West Virginia’s presidential contest, securing the state’s four electoral votes, NBC News projects.

Trump and Vance, in their very best judgment to try to win this election, seemed to think it was a good idea to trash women for the last two weeks of the campaign, even though those are the voters their campaign desperately needs. The failed Trump-backed effort to overturn the 2020 election results looms over this one. Among the 20 characters people thought were most likely to vote for Trump, only two were women: Roseanne Conner from “Roseanne” : There’s a solid majority in favor of undocumented immigrants being offered a chance for legal status. The bad news is that 39% of those asked are in favor of deporting them to their country of origin, an increase of 14 points from 2016.. That’s led conservative influencers to call on white men specifically to show up to vote for Trump with a frantic urgency.

The college-educated suburb went two-thirds for Mitt Romney in 2012, but under Trump the GOP share plunged to 56.7% in 2016 and 52.4% in 2020. This was also Nikki Haley’s second best county in the state’s GOP primary, where she received one-third of the vote despite. If Harris keeps it close here, it’s likely a sign of Democratic strength in the high-college suburbs they are targeting in other states.

Headlining the judicial races are Michigan and Ohio, where partisan control of those courts could flip. Heading into Election Day, Democrats hold a 4-3 advantage inthat election officials in Milwaukee are recounting more than 30,000 ballots to ensure an accurate count after there was an issue sealing ballot tabulation machines. The ballots are going to be rerun through the machines and counted once more, which will delay the final vote count.

I’ve met many Republican voters — and even Republican lawmakers and operatives themselves — who fret that the party has very much become the dog that caught the car after repealing Roe and that they’re operating now in a political environment where they’re out of step with not just the majority of Americans but also a significant segment of their base. To see exit polls show 38% of Trump voters, up from 26% in 2020, now saying abortion should be legal is a significant shift.

Especially what he has done to women with the fall of Roe, whether we “like it or not,” he has caused us great suffering. And I think that actually makes a lot of men mad because they are watching what’s happening to women across the country, in states where there are these strict abortion bans, they’re taking them to hospitals, carrying them at times while they’re bleeding out and they’re not able to do anything. I think any real man would be upset about that.

• Questioned why many women don’t support him even though his administration made gains in combating human trafficking , Democrats are often, reminding them that, while they may have approved of Hogan as their governor, he’s not worth risking their party’s tenuous control of the Senate over.have all issued statements endorsing Harris. Swift’s Instagram post, in which she directed her fans to register to vote on nonprofit website Vote.

Emgage Action, which has endorsed Harris, is touting its outreach efforts —115,000+ doors knocked and 550,000+ phone calls — along with a closing message that is notably more anti-Trump rather than it is pro-Harris: “This choice isn’t about supporting the status quo — it’s about rejecting the dangerous rhetoric and policies that have threatened Muslim Americans and other marginalized communities under Trump.

Of course, any nominee needs to be confirmed by the Senate, a fact that highlights the significance of its current 51-49 Democratic control. Benson warned voters against misinformation in the days ahead, saying that those sharing it will try to “create chaos, confusion, fear, division, and sow seeds of doubt about what is a very clear, transparent and secure election process.”“We all need to recognize, and we have evidence of the fact that foreign bad actors, will try and distract voters from the sanctity and integrity and security of our elections. Don’t fall for it,” Benson added.

Republican election officials in Georgia, for example, attempted to pass seven new rules largely designed to delay results . I don’t think there’s a whole lot of hope for scrapping it unless and until a Democratic candidate manages to win the presidency while losing the popular vote. A few very smart data folks I’ve talked to this cycle say that while that is an extremely remote possibility this time around, itto when she last ran as the Green Party candidate in 2016.

Though we talk a lot about “battleground states,” the election is actually decided by battleground demographics, which make up varying percentages of key states. Florida’s fast-counted ballots will be the first indicators of how those groups may be turning out and voting around the country.performance of Republicans there during the midterms, there’s reason to think a Trump win there this cycle could be bigger than ever.

A rich donor goes all-in, placing bets designed to make it look like a certain candidate has better odds than they do, thus raising doubts among supporters when that candidate loses, hurting confidence in election integrity.the ones they’re not purging from state voter rolls Chloe Wright, from Hall County Georgia said she did not receive her requested absentee ballot and so had to do in-person voting in her heavily red district. The experience was “an absolute nightmare with MAGA signs and people all around to the limit of legality intimidating us,” she said. “We’re voting for Kamala entirely out of survival. I can’t say we love everything about her, but it’s an existential issue at this point.

And finally in Massachusetts, where voters approved recreational marijuana nearly a decade ago, voters are taking things a step further with an initiative to legalize some naturally occurring psychedelic substances, including mescaline and psilocybin .'Harris will watch the results of the election come in tonight at her alma mater, Howard University, in Washington, D.C.

Biden White House counsel Dana Remus told reporters during an on-the-record call that the volume of litigation filed by Republicans should not be seen as confirmation of the validity of their claims. Rather, as in 2020, when Trump and allied candidates, campaigns, and organizations lost over 60 lawsuits, she told those listening that she remains confident in our courts.

Harris focused on a message of quiet competence, wearing out her do-no-harm stump speech across the swing states, and keeping her advertising message focused on kitchen table economic issues. While, for his part, Trump functioned as his own October Surprise, making several unforced political errors in the final stretch of the campaign.
