🚨 There are severe delays of up to 90 minutes
A lorry was involved in a crash this morning, which left it knifejacked across the carriageway. It spilled a large amount of diesel onto the road at Junction 24 forTwo lanes of the westbound carriageway will remain closed throughout the evening as emergency resurfacing is completed. It’s causing traffic chaos with delays of up to 90 minutes.
National Highways has released a full statement following the diesel spillage. They have confirmed lane closures will remain in place tonight. “Closures remain in place on lanes one and two on the M62 westbound at junction 24 for emergency resurfacing work, along with the entry slip road. This follows an incident this morning when an HGV jackknifed and spilled diesel across the junction 24 westbound entry slip road and two lanes of the main carriageway. These closures will continue into this evening’s peak traffic period.
“Due to the extensive damage the diesel has caused, the M62 westbound carriageway will need to be fully closed later tonight between junctions 24 and 23 to complete the resurfacing work. However, this work is expected to be completed with the closure lifted by tomorrow morning .“While closures are in place, drivers wishing to join the M62 westbound at junction 24 are advised to follow signposted diversions.
