Four people were due to be sentenced today over the brutal murder of Michael Anton O'Connor in The Meadows. Michael Mingoes, Leonard Ward, Jerone Sheard and Michael McGuire - appeared beforeThey are among nine people who were convicted by a jury of the murder after a seven-month trial. Each defendant played a varying role in the lead-up to the killing - which was an organised "hit" by a gang from Manchester and intended for a "rival dealer", who cannot be identified.
Mr O'Connor, an Aesthetics Practitioner and Trainer, was knifed in the heart on November 10, 2021, by Mingoes - but this was a "joint plan" by all nine defendants. The jury had heard the hit was on an innocent man who had nothing to do with the drugs war raging in The Meadows.
Also convicted of murder were: Jerone Sheard, 30, of Wilford Crescent West, The Meadows; Michael Mingoes, 20, of Powell Street, Manchester; Paula Usherwood, 37, of Central Avenue, Beeston; and Michael McGuire, 34, of Wilford Crescent West, The Meadows.
