The United Nations announced on Sunday that more than 1.5 million refugees from Ukraine had crossed into neighboring countries in the 10 days since Russia's invasion.
An adviser to Ukraine's president said Monday that a third round of talks with Russia ended with some progress made on arrangements for humanitarian corridors, over which the two delegations began the day at deep odds.
Ukraine officials had blasted an earlier Russian plan and demanded exit routes that go toward Western Ukraine instead of Russia and Belarus, as the Kremlin announced. Each side has blamed the other for a pair of previous failed attempts at establishing civilian evacuation routes. The Biden administration is considering how to fulfill Ukrainian President Volodmyr Zelenskyy’s request for warplanes, a U.S. official said, considering that Ukrainians would only be able to operate soviet-era warplanes provided by Poland.
Here's a look at the latest developments in the war in Ukraine and the security crisis in Eastern Europe.
