In a tweet published at 5.28pm on Friday, September 16, Nottingham Travelwise advised motorists to use an alternative route or allow extra time. "Left hand lane on Lenton Boulevard closed at it's junction with Derby Road due to RTC," it wrote.

"Emergency services on scene and delays are currently A6130 and A6005 Abbey Bridge so please allow extra time or use an alternative route." Traffic is also queuing at nearby Western Boulevard due to an earlier accident. "Queueing traffic due to earlier accident on A6514 Northbound between Beechdale Road and Chalfont Drive. Congestion to the QMC Island," reads traffic monitoring site Inrix.
