DEVELOPING | Taxi stayaway continues as Santaco seeks interdict to get impounded taxis back first
The SA National Council is set to meet with Transport Minister Sindiswe Chikunga again in a bid to get taxis running in Cape Town on Thursday. But first, they are going to a prayer meeting at St George's Cathedral in CBD, followed by consultations with civil society.
The Western Cape Mobility MEC Ricardo Mackenzie's urgent application for an interdict against specific taxi operators was rolled to Thursday. - Cape Town has been gripped by a taxi strike which emanated from the impounding of taxis for traffic infringements. Yet another urgent application against Western Cape taxi operators started in the Western Cape High Court at 16:00 on Tuesday, this time by the MEC for Mobility Ricardo Mackenzie.
- That they, their employers and drivers must comply with the conditions of the operating licences issued to them, to the extent that they do have a licence.
