Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis maintained the municipality has been impounding vehicles according to the National Land Transport Act.

Hill-Lewis accused Chikunga of taking up the cause of taxi mafias who are spreading violence in the city. It added that all public vehicles continue to be dealt with under the National Land Transport Act"as always"."We reiterate our call on SANTACO to return peacefully to the negotiation table," said Hill-Lewis.Cape Town Mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis said the City will not release impounded taxis.

Provincial community safety MEC Regan Allen and police leadership in the Western Cape will join Cele.Nolungile Community Health Centre in Khayelitsha was the target of arsonists and vandals on Monday night, the Western Cape Department of Health has said.
