The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for 24 Texas counties, including several in North Texas.
A line of storms is expected to move through impacting the morning drive and school drop-off.
At approximately 4 a.m., the National Weather Service issued a Tornado Watch for Archer, Brown, Clay, Collin, Comanche, Cooke, Dallas, Denton, Eastland, Ellis, Erath, Fannin, Grayson, Hood, Hunt, Jack, Johnson, Kaufman, Montague, Palo Pinto, Parker, Rockwall, Somervell, Stephens, Tarrant, Wise, and Young Counties. The Tornado Watch will last until 11 a.m.
Storms will move through from west to east from approximately 6 a.m. until 1 p.m. Below are some images from one of the forecast models.Sign up for NBC DFW newslettersSome storms within the line may become severe with damaging winds and some quarter-size hail. The tornado threat is relatively low, a brief spin-up along the line cannot be ruled out.
The storm prediction center has outlined western parts of North Texas under a severe weather risk through Tuesday. The greater chances for severe storms will be across East Texas into Louisiana. Storms will clear out by Tuesday afternoon. The remainder of the work week will be dry and noticeably cooler.
