Warlord Yevgeny Prigozhin was on the passenger list for a private jet that crashed between Moscow and St Petersburg, Russian state media is reporting.

"Putin is someone who generally thinks that revenge is a dish best served cold," CIA head William Burns said last month. "In my experience, Putin is the ultimate apostle of payback so I would be surprised if Prigozhin escapes further retribution." To many, this plane crash looks like the cruel end they imagined for one of Putin's greatest challengers.
