Less than a year after a deadly, fiery truck crash caused a section of I-95 in Northeast Philadelphia to collapse, officials are celebrating the highway returning to normal capacity at the Cottman Avenue InterchangePennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll will join Federal Highway Administrator Shailen Bhatt and local leaders to"celebrate full restoration of all eight lanes on I-95 in Philadelphia" at a Thursday, May 23, 2024, news conference, the Shapiro administration said.

"During the nighttime activities, crews will remove temporary construction barriers and eradicate and repaint lane markings approaching and on the new bridge," PennDOT said. Basically, things will return to normal to what it was like at the Cottman Avenue interchange before June 11, 2023, but with new safety measures in place.of crews working around the clock to backfill the Cottman Avenue interchange to get temporary lanes built so traffic could flow again on I-95.
