A new live music and event space will be breaking ground in Jacksonville next year.
Marathon Live, a full-service venue management company, said it’s planning to build at Dennis + Ives in the Rail Yard District of Jacksonville.
The event space will be able to host between 1,000 to 2,000 people. “It’s great because Jacksonville is a music city,” said Josh Billue, the owner of Marathon Live. “You know, music works best in an ecosystem in which all the pieces function together, and we’ve got a lot of great, small venues here [in Jacksonville] and a lot of great, large venues.”
Located just off I-95 on Dennis Street, the new mixed-use area is near the Emerald Trail, a project which once complete will connect 14 historic neighborhoods to downtown, the St. Johns River, McCoys Creek, and Hogans Creek. The company wants to get the community’s input on a name for the new venue. Once the group decides how it will go about doing that, we’ll update you on how to participate in the naming.
