More than 30 schools across Burnley, Hyndburn, Rossendale and Pendle are closed today as weather warnings remain in force
until 12pm on Friday . Forecasters are warning of 'significant disruption' with travel delays on roads, power cuts and a 'good chance that some rural communities could become cut off'.
More than 30 primary and secondary schools in the county are confirmed to have closed today, according to Lancashire County Council. More closures are expected to be announced throughout the morning.Met Office issues another Lancashire snow warning with ice threat also added for the weekend Met Office meteorologist Alex Burkill said the worst of the weather over the next 24 hours is is expected in northern England, where "gusts of easily 50mph" are on a collision course with "30 to 40cm of snow". The weather is expected to clear by the end of Friday, before then being replaced by another low pressure system, leading to a further yellow snow and ice warning for much of northern England and Scotland from 3pm on Saturday to 6am on Sunday.
