Senators are sworn in and will begin debate over the procedures for the impeachment trial of DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.Chancellor l’Ashea Myles to decide if Covenant shooter's writings should be made public continues Metro says they denied their public records request due to several exceptions, including Rule 16 which states there is still an open criminal investigation.

However, petitioners believe the open criminal investigation exception does not apply since there is no pending criminal action, just a possibility.Metro Legal says The Metro Nashville Police Department plans to conclude its investigation in July and could prepare to release a redacted version of the shooter’s journals found in her car.

The intervenors also had a chance to speak, including attorneys representing The Covenant School and The Covenant Church. They spoke against anything related to the shooting being released, as they feel the school security and safety exemption applies to the whole investigative file.Overall, the Covenant Church and school believe the school security exemption applies to all of the shooter’s writings, and therefore believes nothing should be released for public inspection.

Eric Osbourne, the attorney representing The Covenant School parents, says everyone in the courtroom Wednesday, besides media, is a Covenant parent or related to a victim who died on March 27.That means the parents now own the documents in question and believe copyright exists from the moment the work is created. The Tennessee Star filed a federal lawsuit against the FBI for the release of these writings.
