Officers are currently dealing with an incident that has closed both sides of the carriageway on the M61 junction 9 and the M6 motorway. The details of the incident are not yet known, only that police are on the scene. Police said: "We are currently dealing with an incident on the M61 between junction 9 and the M6 motorway. Both sides of the carriageway are closed whilst we deal with the incident. Please be patient and we will open the carriageway as soon as possible. Thank you."
