The Boerne Greyhounds celebrate Dec. 9, 2022, at the Alamodome after their Class 4A Division I semifinal win over the Tyler Chapel Hill Bulldogs to advance to the state championship. Boerne is vying for its first state title and undefeated season in program history Friday as it faces China Spring.The Boerne Greyhounds and the China Spring Cougars are facing off in the Texas Class 4A Division 1 state championship game at 3 p.m. Friday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

The Greyhounds have never won a state championship and are also seeking their first undefeated season. In fact, no team from the San Antonio area has won a state title at this level or higher since 1984, when Medina Valley shocked Daingerfield to win the 3A title .
China Spring has won two state titles and is looking to repeat after claiming the 4A Division II championship last season. China Spring eliminated Boerne in the first round of the playoffs in 2015 and 2016.
