Montgomery County has a new way to read more books.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Montgomery County Commission installed what it calls “Little Free Libraries” at 14 locations around the county.
The small weatherproof sharing boxes allow residents to take a book to read or leave a book for others to enjoy. They are filled with books for all ages and are donated by the Montgomery City/County Public Library System and the Little Free Library organization. The Montgomery County Commission says this is an effort to encourage reading and literacy while also promoting a sense of community.
“Reading and literacy are important for residents of all ages,” said Montgomery County Commission Chairman Doug Singleton. “By installing these new Little Free Libraries, we are promoting literacy and fostering an increased sense of community across Montgomery County!” There are more than 150,000 Little Free Libraries installed worldwide! The new libraries in Montgomery County are located at all three Montgomery County Probate/Revenue Annexes, the downtown Courthouse complex, and all County Parks & Recreation facilities. Their locations allow for maximum accessibility and impact within the community.
