Illumination's Migration trailer features the debut of Taylor Swift's "Out of the Woods (Taylor's Version)" ahead of the re-release of 1989.
The Big Picture Illumination has hatched a new trailer for Migration, their latest animated offering which will be hitting the skies and heading south for the winter when it hits theaters this Christmas. The film tells the story of a family of ducks who find their winter trip to the South thrown off course, as they find themselves lost in New York City.
The movie focuses on the Mallards, a family of ducks who are stuck in something of a rut. Mack, the dad, is content with their quiet New England pond life, but his wife, Pam, is keen for something fresh. After some persuasion, Mack and Pam decide to take a trip down south for the winter with their kids, Dax and Gwen, aiming for the tropical paradise of Jamaica. However, their journey doesn't go as smoothly as planned.
The film's script is penned by Mike White, who recently achieved remarkable success with HBO's The White Lotus, earning him both writing and directing Emmys. White is also known for writing and starring in the 2003 beloved classic School of Rock. The cast of Migration features Oscar and Emmy nominee Kumail Nanjiani in the role of Mack, alongside Emmy nominee Elizabeth Banks portraying Pam.
'Migration' Debuts a Fresh Spin on an Old Classic The trailer is also notable for debuting Taylor Swift's "Out of the Woods " which comes from the album "1989 ," set for release on October 27. Swift is re-recording her songs because of a dispute over the ownership of her master recordings. In the music industry, when an artist records music, the master recordings are typically owned by the record label.
In 2019, Taylor Swift's catalog of master recordings was sold to Scooter Braun's company, Ithaca Holdings, which caused significant controversy. Swift expressed her displeasure with this sale, as she had long-standing issues with Braun and felt that her music's ownership had been transferred without her consent. As a response to this situation and to regain control over her music, Swift decided to re-record her early albums.
