'It's nice to see we finally have a space in the industry that we have created for ourselves,' Gigi said about women in hip-hop.

“I think it has evolved quite a lot. I think we are very supportive of each other. We’re finally being compared to the guys in the industry.

“Gatekeepers remain male. I guess it is a biological thing where males will put each other first unless they believe they can benefit from a female act, Gigi said. “Hip-hop has been used as a tool in terms of activism. I think for a lot of misogynists, it is hard to accept that a woman within hip-hop has a way of expressing a lack of happiness within society. I think it becomes even worse. When you’re a female and you’ve got something to say, it doesn’t suit the male agenda,” she said.
