“I knew that if I was going to write this book, I had to be transparent,“ Lisa Rinna told Newsweek.

H. Alan Scott for a candid conversation about the life lessons that have shaped her long-lasting career atDuring the conversation, Rinna said that she got to a point where she thought her soap opera career was over because,"in this town, at 40, you just don't get hired much anymore.

" While acknowledging that difficult reality, Rinna turned her focus to other potential ventures. "I don't have a lot of ego in the part of like, I have to be an actor and I have to do this and I had to do that," she said."I'm very practical. I had a family to raise; I had two small young children, my husband's an actor sometimes he works, sometimes he doesn't work. So I'm like, what can I do to make sure that we can still live the life that we want to live?"A few of the answers: a clothing boutique, a QVC spot, a beauty brand, a stint as a talk show host and eight seasons on. By pursuing all of those opportunities, Rinna embraced the pivot while maintaining her signature brand of authenticity. More recently, Rinna reinvented herself once again by finding a new audience on the fourth season of the Peacock reality competition series"I knew that if I was going to write this book, I had to be transparent in some way, shape, or form; otherwise, why do it?" she said."If I'm going to do this, I have to say my side of the story. It was very cathartic, so I'm really glad I wrote this book.
