Breaking local news in Boksburg
The Boksburg Advertiser participated in the online webinar that the University of Western Cape , in collaboration with the South African National Editors’ Forum, the Press Council, and the Indigenous Languages Forum , hosted on May 3, World Press Freedom Day.
She raised concerns about media consumers who tend to skip the community media for the “big gun” publications because they do not realise the crucial role of local media. Marietta Lombard, the deputy executive director of the FCJ, said, “The FCJ believes linguistic diversity is not only a reflection of our nation’s rich tapestry but also a cornerstone of press freedom.”
