Republican senator Lindsey Graham was spotted at Disney World in Florida on Sunday amid the ongoing partial government shutdown.
For weeks, the government has been in the midst of the longest partial shutdown in U.S. history as congressional Democrats and Republicans duke it out over funding for the Department of Homeland Security.
Since thekicked off on February 14, TSA employees have gone without pay, leaving tens of thousands of federal workers struggling to pay bills andpublished photos of Republican senator Lindsey Graham living it up at Disney World. It looks like Graham enjoyed a character breakfast at Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, where he reportedly dined with an unidentified woman and child. He was also seen exploring the. Per TMZ, Graham was apparently holding on to the toy “for a little girl while she was in the bathroom.” It’s unclear who the woman and child accompanying Graham were; Graham is unmarried and has no children.In a statement to The Cut, a spokesperson for Graham said he was in Florida for a lunch “with Trump official Steve Witkoff and many others to talk about the possibility of normalization between Saudi Arabia and Israel.” Through the spokesperson, Graham said he “went to Orlando to meet friends after” and returned to his home state of South Carolina on Sunday. “I voted seven times to fully fund the government. Call a Democrat,” Graham added. Also seen out and about amid the shutdown: California Democratic representative Robert Garcia, whom TMZ spotted at a casino in Las Vegas on Sunday. A spokesperson for the congressman told The Cut that Garcia was visiting his father, a longtime resident in the city. “As he stated the day Speaker Johnson sent Congress home, it is crazy for Republicans to reject the deal on the table and send members home while the American people suffer,” Garcia’s spokesperson said in the statement to TMZ. “Republicans chose to continue this shutdown and Garcia is ready to get back to work the second Mike Johnson decides to do his job.”on Monday, Garcia added that he doesn’t “mind what TMZ is doing here.” “Like the story says my dad has lived in Vegas for 15 years and I had just finished lunch with him.
