DeadToMe creator thelizfeldman joins stars lindacardellini & James Marsden to break down the season 3 finale with Screen Rant and reveal what's behind that major storytelling decision:
WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for the series finale of Dead to Me.The third and final season of Dead to Me dropped on Netflix last week, delivering a tragic yet bittersweet ending that left fans with plenty to discuss. Regardless of the current storyline, Jen and Judy's profound bond remains the epicenter of the series.
Liz Feldman: No, I definitely did not know the ending when I started. I like things to be kind of iterative and for things to evolve over time, because I'm one person, but then I hire a roomful of really brilliant writers, and it'd be sort of silly not to want to see if somebody has a better idea than I do. And very often they did! So that's sort of how the second season evolved because the first season ended in a way that I wasn't initially planning.
James, the show left off on a bit of a shocker—a bit ominous. We're unaware of what's going to happen with Jen and Ben. Do you think they made it work? [Laughs] It was great! Well, lastly, Linda, what was the final scene that was filmed between Jen and Judy? Because I imagine that must have been a big moment for you guys.
