'History will remember the positive achievements,' says Karl McCartney in defence of Boris Johnson
Lincoln's MP Karl McCartney has come forward to express his unwavering support for former Prime Minister Boris Johnson amidst a damning report that could have led to a 90-day suspension for Johnson had he remained an MP.
He lauded Johnson's Brexit triumph, victory in the 2019 General Election, the enhancement of Lincolnshire's police force, and Johnson's instrumental role in backing Ukraine against Russian invasion. Grimsby MP Lia Nici also tweeted her support for the former PM, which led the Conservatives gaining the Red Wall seat in the 2019 elections, but deleted it shortly after.
The Committee's year-long investigation focused on Johnson's potential misleading of MPs regarding Covid-19 breaches in government buildings. Their comprehensive 106-page report concluded that Johnson's awareness of the breaches and his repeated lack of proactive investigation signalled a deliberate disregard for the facts.
