Limpopo police have launched a manhunt for a group of people from Morarela village who 'went on a rampage' and torched an Elandskraal farm in a suspected vigilante attack over the weekend.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba the owner of the farm - a businesswoman - her son, and two relatives were accused of kidnapping and murdering 35-year-old Funky Hlongwane, who was suspected of stealing goats."The teacher was released afterwards while the suspects continued assaulting Funky Hlongwane. The teacher managed to report the incident to the police [who rushed to the scene]," Ledwaba said.

"Upon arrival [they] found a 35-year-old victim ... with serious injuries and unable to talk. The members of the emergency medical services were summoned to the scene, and the victim was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries," the spokesperson added. "The four were arrested on the spot and charged with murder, kidnapping and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm," he said."Police were summoned to the scene, and members of the community, upon noticing the police, then fled the scene. A manhunt for the suspects was immediately activated," Ledwaba added.Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe said:"People should refrain from actions that may lead them into police cells.
