Daniel Shemtob, owner of the Lime Truck, lost his home in the Palisades Fire but has turned his resources into helping feed thousands of fire victims across Los Angeles.
The Lime Truck, known for catering weddings and corporate events in Los Angeles and Orange County, has been serving the fire-stricken community of Altadena. What's remarkable is that owner Daniel Shemtob, who is expecting his first child with his wife, is also a fire victim himself, losing their home to the Palisades Fire. After the devastating fires, Shemtob, recognizing the immense need in his community, decided to utilize his resources to help fellow Angelenos.
He and his team have been setting up shop at various parking lots across Los Angeles, offering free meals, clothing, and even slip-resistant shoes designed by Shemtob for restaurant workers. Shemtob, a contestant on Food Network's 'The Great Food Truck Race,' experienced the rollercoaster of emotions that followed the loss of his home. From disbelief and anger to depression and solitude, he eventually found solace in wanting to give back and help others. His initiative has created a sense of community and support through food and essential supplies, bringing smiles to the faces of those struggling in the aftermath of the fires. His team continues to serve, reflecting his belief that reacting positively to adversity will ultimately lead to a brighter future
