The 25-year-old rising star has heard plenty about whether she deserves a place in Hollywood. Nosferatu proves she does.
“I was really nervous,” Depp tells me of the audition, while sipping an oat-milk cappuccino on a Beverly Hills café patio. “One of the sides was a big freak-out scene, and I made sure that I had a bunch of stuff to throw. I had a roll of paper towels, and some books, and I just threw shit all over the room. I started moving around like crazy. I wanted to show that I wasn’t scared to go there.” The Nosferatu rollout is just getting started for Depp.
I feel like I’m still starting out. At the time, I maybe wasn’t thinking that way because I was a kid and I didn’t know what the hell was going on. I gravitate more toward bigger, emotional performances because I like the challenge of it. I like to get in there. I come away with more of a lesson from it. Every role that I have been lucky enough to do has taught me something, and I get to come away with something.
