Life in 'peaceful' village with pub that's popular with Forest stars

The Old Vol recently won the AA Rosette award for culinary excellence for 2021-2022

Villagers have given an insight into life in a "peaceful" village in Nottinghamshire. Caythorpe is a small village close to the River Trent, near Lowdham, which is only home to a handful of houses and a couple of businesses.

"My wife is from Nottingham and I lived here for a long while then we moved down south and then we wanted to move back to be with family. Caythorpe is a really nice place to bring up kids."He added: "It's nice and friendly and it's a peaceful safe sort of place to live. There is a good sense of community here, perhaps even more so then there used to be in the village."

"Everyone seems to keep themselves to themselves at first and then I got to know people." Jane explained that her favourite thing about living in the village is "this house really."
