CIUDAD DE GUATEMALA (AP) — El periodista guatemalteco José Rubén Zamora fue liberado la tarde del sábado luego que la víspera un juez ordenara su arresto domiciliar en lugar de la prisión preventiva que tenía desde julio de 2022.

Con una sonrisa en el rostro, vistiendo una camisa blanca y un pantalón de mezclilla y esta vez sin esposas en las manos, Zamora abandonó la prisión civil y militar de Mariscal Zavala, acompañado de amigos y familiares, rumbo a su casa —resguardado por policías. Algunos amigos aplaudieron, quemaron cohetillos y ondearon una bandera guatemalteca como muestra de apoyo.
La defensa de Zamora ha dicho que él mismo no bancarizó el dinero porque la persona que había donado el dinero no quería recibir represalias por financiar el medio. El dinero nunca entró al sistema bancario.
