As NSW Liberals open preselections in seats they are trying to win back, a wing of the party has created its own fighting fund to fund more female candidates.

At the same time, NSW party president Jason Falinski has appointed former premier Nick Greiner and US Republican Party pollster Kristin Soltis-Anderson to lead a state election review into the 2023 March loss, and to advise on future directions to win back seats.

In Australia, the initiative isn’t just about improving representation. It is also about improving the Coalition’s chances at coming state and federal elections.Ms Mortlock said there was some internal party data suggesting that women were more inclined to vote for female candidates, which was a powerful insight and opportunity to leverage, particularly as the party aims to win back seats lost at the last election including North Sydney, Wentworth and Mackellar.

The Hilma’s Network board, which has established itself as an incorporated not-for-profit foundation, consists of Ms Mortlock alongside Mr Schuman, pollster Jonathan Flegg and South Australian businesswoman Rilka Warbanoff.
