The Trevor Project survey adds to the growing body of research finding that LGBTQ youth are at higher risk of suicide attempts and suicide compared to their peers.

The new statistics come as Texas joins the growing wave of red states considering anti-LGBT legislation, including A third of the young LGBTQ people surveyed by the Trevor Project said their mental health is poor all or most of the time due to discriminatory policies and legislation.
