The Liverpool FC icon spoke to the ECHO in an exclusive interview
The 72-year-old will forever be regarded as a Liverpool FC legend for what he achieved on the pitch as a player and a manager. However, he will always be known as an icon in the city for the way he conducted himself in the aftermath of the Hillsborough disaster when he heroically held a community together while they grieved a tragedy.
He said: "It was very special. People that have been there, who lived here, went to a football match and never came back. is a special place and the people in Liverpool are fantastically supportive of things like that and they deserve a great deal of credit for their support."
