Seven-time F1 champ Lewis Hamilton has been named an ambassador by Dior and designed a lifestyle capsule collection for the French fashion house.
Buying a New Rolex Daytona Is Now Almost Impossible“Working with Kim and the talented team at Dior has been a dream, and I was honored when Kim asked if I’d like to do this with him,” Hamilton said in a statement. “Our values and ideas are aligned, making it easy to bring to life a creative collection infused with our shared experiences.”
The new capsule is inspired by the British racer’s “powerful, exhilarating universe,” according to the French fashion house. It also pays homage to his African heritage. “Focusing on conscious choices and pushing boundaries with each piece, while merging inspiration from my roots in Africa—drawing from their fabrics and belief in natural materials, as well as vibrant colors and powerful energy—has been so inspiring,” added Hamilton.
Designed for a winter lifestyle, the line combines the ruggedness and functionality of traditional outwear with the elegance for which Dior is renowned. Pieces run the gamut from casual suiting in classic tweeds and fresh African weaves to slouchy denim, knits, sweats, and fleeces in an array of sustainable materials, organic fabrics, and recycled textiles.
As for accessories, highlights include POC protective gear engineered to protect against the elements and custom snowboards designed with the folks at Factory 9. Classic bags and shoes have also been reimagined for the outdoors: The Dior derby has been adapted for the snow, while the house’s backpack has been recreated in ultra-resilient fabrics.
The new line will be available in boutiques and online from October 17. That same month, Hamilton will be racing in the United States GP.
