Smith writes that renewable energy is unable to be economically competitive with fossil fuels without receiving “massive government subsidies and tax credits.” As the world population grows and standards of living rise, global energy demand increases, too. It is important that more of this energy comes from the United States. American energy producers have increased oil and natural gas production over the last year, but we need sensible, bipartisan policies from Washington to ensure a strong energy future. By investing in oil and natural gas alongside wind and solar, we truly can build an affordable, reliable, cleaner energy future.
