— I am grateful to the DFW World Affairs Council for bringing Medal of Honor recipient Flo Groberg to speak last month. At a time when patriotism seems to be very conditional, Groberg spoke of the honor of serving our country, its people and the good civil servants we have in Washington, D.C., who keep our government running.

He also spoke highly of our military, which manages to recruit people from a diverse society and build them into soldiers who have a deep sense of caring for all they serve with. This deep sense of caring is what prompted him to risk his life to save those around him and also allowed him to lead a successful career in the business world after his release from the military.
