Readers say broadcaster Vin Scully was a favorite; appreciate the columns written by Dave Lieber; and give a shout-out to those picking up garbage in Dallas .
With all due deference to Joe Buck, Al Michaels and Pat Summerall of recent memory, Vin Scully was one of my most favorite sports announcers. There was never reason to look at the television when Scully was calling a game. I loved waiting to hear him announce a baseball game just to hear him say “fowell.”

His whistleblowing topics are consistently spot-on relevant to me, and I suspect have the same relevance to nearly all his readers. How about we do our part and follow up with the offending agencies? Let’s make it a little harder for the bureaucracies to fleece the consumers.— Recently while driving to work, I was stuck behind a garbage truck on a narrow street in East Dallas. Needing to make my meeting in time, I bypassed my usual impatience and really looked at what was in front of me.
