I appreciate The Dallas Morning News coverage of how to conserve our limited water, not just in Texas, but around the country. Some ideas that come to mind...
Readers offer some tips to conserve water; question Rep. Pat Fallon’s support of Liz Cheney’s opponent; discuss how to stop Asian hate; discuss the need to make polling places safe; and reminisce about the popularity of girls basketball back in the day.
A second thought is the life-saving technology of desalination plants. Using state-of-the-art technology in Israel, these plants are being used routinely, and it is catching on in other dry Middle Eastern countries. Texas sits right on the Gulf of Mexico and is perfect for this. Fallon described what most Republicans do in handling any problems with the former president as “so you just look the other way, that’s fine.“ Just ignore all the hateful tweets, lies and finally insurrection? In my opinion, Republicans just look the other way purely to retain their power.Asian hate is something that has affected me and my family growing up. However, Asian hate is not the only problem that has been happening.
Anger will never disappear from public discourse, but its recent elevation to an accepted form of debate must come to a very unhappy ending, a preview of which we have already seen. Thanks largely to the persistent efforts of one man and a pliant, no, make that a supplicant GOP, our once mighty Lady Liberty, hand in air with the torch of freedom “lighting the world,” is tottering on her plinth.
I’m from Iowa and never went to a caucus. So I don’t care about the political stuff mentioned in this letter. But I do take issue with the comparison to six-person girls basketball! Girl basketball players were rock stars in the years before Title IX in small rural schools.
