For all of Cruz’s brilliance in pointing out perceived problems and expounding on them through Fox News, he has not shown the same capacity for working with others to come up with solutions that benefit all Americans. We need problem-solvers in Washington, and I hope that the Texas Democratic Party does not delay identifying a problem-solver to run against Cruz.

Far more dangerous, on the other hand, is the outright cancellation of the author for reasons having nothing to do with the author’s ideas or writings. In reality, identity politics is a blatantly intolerant and discriminatory practice that is the bane of our society and cheapens everything and everyone it impacts, including, on occasion, the pages of this otherwise fine newspaper.

Just like in the column by Gromer Jeffers Jr. about Sen. Ted Cruz, Cruz says he is representing 30 million Texas citizens. As Republicans said during the State of the Union address, I say to Cruz, “You lie.”Michael J. Roberts, GarlandWhat the Ken Paxton whistleblowers did took a lot of courage. The Legislature should recognize and honor their courage, and exhibit some of their own.I have a simple solution on how to pay Ken Paxton’s $3.3 million settlement.
