I found it fascinating that the author of Senate Bill 1515, Sen. Phil King, R-Weatherford, justified the passage of the bill by claiming that the Ten Commandments’ principles were espoused by the nation’s founders.

Plan gaining steam would apply to most everything in lieu of yearly paycheck dent,” April 17 news story.First, although economists regard a flat tax on consumption as an efficient tax , we can be assured that a future Congress will start creating exemptions, like exempting baby shoes, or laptops or whatever. Congress does not leave our tax system alone. Their tweaking will cause economic distortions and complexity.
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, GOP members of the Texas Legislature and Republicans in general, maybe not all, wish to end tenure as a reward for excellence at our state universities. Is their real purpose to control what is taught in our higher educational institutions and what research is acceptable to the conservative leadership?
