Democrats, various student groups, Hollywood and the White House have coordinated their response to the proposed Florida bill by calling it the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. In the lawsuit filed against Gov. Ron DeSantis by gay rights advocates, the bill is called an “effort to control young minds through state censorship.
Until some limits are legally established and enforced, tragedies like this loss of a young child’s life as well as targeted and random shootings will continue. Each of us should be aware every day that it could potentially be our last. Is there a legitimate reason the starting pay for a teacher is more than a parole officer or child protective services caseworker with 30 years of experience? My fellow employees entered public service not to get rich, but because we found a purpose in serving the citizens of Texas. We work just as hard, if not harder, than teachers to provide the best service we can with the budgets given to us.
