Readers urger voters to learn about judges; appreciate Dallas ISD’s efforts to get more books in schools; enjoyed the column about reading; and react to a letter comparing someone to an Eveready battery.Re: “Keep Tabs On Local Judges — Dallas Bar poll isn’t perfect, but it offers valuable insight about our local courts,” Thursday editorials.Most Texans might not ever find themselves in a courtroom, but the judges and work that happens inside of them impact all of us.

We do this to provide books to students who may not have the shelves of books you reference in your editorial. The excitement we see when we give the books out and the comments we hear from students thrill us. As one student told me, “This book has been read to me, but now I have my very own book and I can read it anytime I want.”Re: “Tips from a book lover on enjoying reading — Mrs. Taylor’s ninth-grade lessons eventually made sense, and they’re still with me,” by Tyra Damm, Sunday Opinion.

Now everyone can have this experience online. Thank you, Ms. Damm, for reminding us of the value of a public library card.Dallas ISD funding quality textbooks for students. Tyra Damm fondly remembers lessons from a public school teacher. Brain health being vital to individuals and society. Texas Republican legislator libeled by fellow “conservatives.”
